The National Transition Event at Silverstone is truly a one-of-a-kind experience for the Armed Forces community.

The automotive and renewable energy sectors are among many actively seeking to recruit individuals with military backgrounds, recognizing the unique skills and experiences they bring.

Companies like Jaguar Land Rover, Stellantis, Lotus, and RWE, along with industry bodies such as SMMT and RenewableUK, are not only open to hiring Service Leavers, Veterans, Cadets and their families but also value the distinct advantages that military personnel can contribute to their organisations. Accessible Support & Guidance

The National Transition Event is a comprehensive resource for individuals undergoing significant life changes by offering support from various organisations. Attendees can expect assistance from Veterans UK & Defence Transition Services and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Additionally, professional development resources like LinkedIn workshops, CV writing, and interview guidance will be available. Service Charities will provide welfare and employment assistance, while financial advice and spousal support services, including Recruit for Spouses and Forces Families Jobs, will also be accessible to help ease the transition process.

  • Yes. Like most events, you will need to register to attend. Registration can be done right up until the morning of the event.

    Registration is free, quick and easy. Please note that we cannot accept group bookings, everybody is required to register individually. Military spouses/partners will be required to provide their partner’s details.

    For those looking to go out on track, you will be required to register and sign an indemnity form. Upon completion you will be given a wristband - without this, you will not be able to go out on track.

  • Yes.

    Anybody under the age of 18 will not be permitted to particpate in the Troops Track Day - passenger rides out on track.

    Under 16 years olds are not permitted to enter the garages, pitlanes and will not be able to enter the Autohall.

    Please adhere to any instructions given to you by a member of staff or driver - this is for your safety.

  • For the transition event you are advised to wear presentable casual clothes, NOT a suit. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible.

    If you are participating in the trackday element of the day, you MUST ensure that your arms and legs are covered. Staff will check and may refuse you entry if inappropriately dressed.

  • The National Transition Event is designed to help service leavers, veterans and their partners to find out more about employment opportunities, to network and access support.

    Whilst everybody is welcome to enjoy a passenger ride, attendees will be required to sit through a briefing session and tour the different zones, and engage with employers that are there.

    Due to a large number of attendees, time on track will be limited. You will be informed of your allocated track time upon registration.

  • Silverstone circuit is reached by car from a junction off the A43.  It is well-signposted and easy to find.

    Please follow the AA Route signs to CAR PARK 50.

    Car Park 50 is a large gravel covered car park.

    Event welcome volunteers will point you to the NTE which you reach by walking through the Hilton Hotel.

     

  • Food and drink will be available for purchase throughout the day.

    If you prefer, please feel free to bring your own.

  • You will not be able to drive cars on track. There is, however, the opportunity to enjoy the ‘Ride & Drive’ activity. Please note that attendees under the age of 18 years will not be able to participate in this aspect of the day.

  • Yes - please ensure that you only do so in designated smoking areas.

  • Yes, However due to the Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone car park being landscaped there are currently no disabled access parking spaces available in Car Park 50 or in the hotel car park.  Instead, we have secured parking in the Paddock Car Park by the Wing Conference Centre but these will need to be booked, please reply to sw@missioncommunity.org with your vehicle registration details and we will forward you instructions and a vehicle pass needed for entry.
